eArThworm is a retired university reference librarian and former hiker/backpacker/trail-builder-and-maintainer. Her latest project was founding the Research Library at the Appalachian Trail Museum in Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Gardners, PA. in the Spring of 2018. The Library’s website went live in July 2018, with online catalogs for the collection and a link for researchers to request an appointment to the use the Library. Here are some photos:

(1) The north, ‘office,’ end of the Library.
(2) The south, ‘book stacks,’ end of the Library.
(3) The Founding Librarian holding the late Sam Waddle’s copy of Larry Luxenberg’s book, “Walking The Appalachian Trail.” Sam (long time Jerry Cabin shelter maintainer) was known for writing copious notes on almost everything he owned.

And here’s an article about the Library from the Winter 2020-21 issue of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association’s newsletter:  History of the founding of A.T. Museum’s Research Library
